Augusto
Omolú ha sviluppato una particolare tecnica di allenamento per
attori e ballerini sulla base della danza degli Orixá, usata nella
tradizione Afro brasiliana del Candomblé. La tecnica sviluppa differenti
forme di energia che successivamente possono essere usate in modo indipendente
dalla forma originale. L’energia guerriera di Ogun può dialogare
con l’energia soave e delicata di Oxun, la forza del vento e della tempesta
di Iansá è complementare ai passi del vecchio Oxalá.
I partecipanti devono essere vestiti in modo adatto a lavoro fisico intenso.

Omolú
Augusto Omolú was born in Salvador, Bahia, and grew up within
the religious world of the Candomblé, where he is ogan (ceremonial
assistant). He began to
dance in 1976 with the group "Viva Bahia" directed by
Emília Biancardi. He studied ballet at the School of Castro
Alves Theatre and joined the Castro Alves Ballet in 1981 where he
participated in all the productions of the company, often as a solo
dancer. Since 1982 he has been responsible for a course in "Afro-Brazilian
technique" at the Castro Alves Theatre. During the years 1983-1985,
he created and directed the company "Chama", working both
as a dancer and choreographer. Augusto Omolú has been collaborating
with ISTA International School of Theatre Anthropology since 1994.
Augusto is now part of Odin Teatret ensemble.
